Giley
Giley (also known as Gilé or 41) is a traditional Spanish betting card game played with a Spanish-suited deck.
The rules are designed to ideally be played with four players, but I've adapted the mechanics for a single-player experience. The goal is to reach the target score set for each round. For this jam, and as my final course project, the scope of the game has been kept deliberately small.
Game rules
- The game uses a 28-card deck. Each suit has an Ace, 2, 3, 7, Jack, Knight, and King.
- There are four suits: Golds, Cups, Swords, and Clubs.
- Only cards of the same suit score, and only the suit with the highest total counts.
- Played or discarded cards can't be used again until the next round.
- Before playing cards, your hand is refilled by drawing from the deck.
- If you run out of hands, you lose the round.
- The number of hands and discards per round is limited.
Card scoring
Based on the traditional game's rules:
- Ace: 11 points
- 3, Jack, Knight, and King: 10 points
- 7: 7 points
- 2: 0 points
The plan is to develop and expand the game much further, adding a roguelike layer and replayability — and above all, replacing the parts that were made using AI, due to time constraints in reaching the jam deadline.
